Controlling Legionella with every tiny drop

Legionnaire’s disease is the silent killer in the workplace. We can’t see it, hear it, touch it or smell it. Over 300 cases a year in the UK occur due to a combination of ignorance, bad management and insufficient controls.

We offer a comprehensive, in-house training service, designed by NEBOSH and IOSH members, which demonstrates how to manage the risk of Legionnaires’ disease and control it. The service also explains an organisation’s obligations to L8: The Control of Legionella Bacteria in Water Systems.

Legionella Control Association

MSS is a member of the Legionella Control Association (LCA). We have been awarded Category One Status from the LCA for implementation of Water Treatment and Legionella Management. LCA Membership is seen across the industry as increasingly important in demonstrating a commitment to high standards of service.

LCA members are recognised for keeping water systems safe and minimising the risk of cases of Legionnaires’ disease caused by poorly maintained systems. The LCA has set out auditable requirements in the form of a code of conduct, which must be passed before gaining registration.

The LCA represents a major initiative covering a wide spectrum of services and disciplines designed to assist the industry in its constant aim to improve standards and enhance public perception with respect to the minimisation of legionnaires’ Disease.

A copy of MSS’ statement of compliance can be obtained by emailing and information regarding the membership can be found here, on the LCA’s directory of companies. Click to view the current LCA membership certificate for MSS.

“In comparison with other service providers we use now, MSS are clearly the most committed to our business.”

Working closely with International Rectifier to reduce costs and increase efficiency

International Rectifier (IR) is a world leader in advanced power management technology for the aerospace, defence, automotive, computing and communications sectors.

We provide a tailored water management package at IR’s large manufacturing site in Newport. This includes demineralised, reverse osmosis and softened water supplies, cooling towers, evaporative condensers, closed heating and cooling circuits and steam boilers. Our total water treatment and legionella management involves regular water analysis and cleaning for IR’s cooling towers, and managing their closed circuit water systems operation in compliance with BS2486 and ACOP L8.

We help to ensure that this 24/7 operation runs without any interruption, and have also been able to reduce costs by providing IR with bespoke water treatment products. Our plan to refurbish existing plant in-situ and during normal operation could result in cost savings in excess of £100,000 alone.

Through close client consultation and our thorough understanding of IR’s plant parameters, we have made significant strides in plant performance, cost control and safety.
