Our specialist cleaning divisions have been undertaking the highly controlled task of removing waste from a redundant Coke Oven Gas Main. Gas residues within the pipe are highly hazardous and flammable, meaning that a range of specialist controls and skills were required to complete the project safely.
On removal of the pipe, our team received 170m of pipe - which had been cold cut into 4m sections - into a secured bunded area. Wearing "haz suits" and using plastic shovels, waste was placed into 158 barrels to a maximum of 25% volume and then filled with water. Drums were then packaged ready for removal from site, organised by our Waste Managers in compliance with all current regulation & guidance.
