Wellington Barracks – Removal of 7000 m2 Textured Coating
Asbestos Removal on a high profile Military site
Service Type
Asbestos Removal
Details
Our scope of work at Wellington Barracks was to remove in excess of 7000m2 of textured coating to the external parts of blocks 6 7 & 8 followed by the removal of lead flashing and blown render to allow essential repairs.
Given the volume and location of material to strip, whilst the work was a Non-Licensed Task, the controls were close to those installed during licenced work. MSS installed an enclosure within the wrapped scaffolding seen in the images provided, including negative pressure units and a standard licensed decontamination process.
Wellington Barracks, which is a high-profile site, remained fully operational during works, with regular parades continuing immediately in front of the enclosures. Consideration for maintaining a clean and well presented areas which MSS were responsible for were priorities alongside safe working. The structure including the enclosures were designed to withstand regular helicopter activity at the front of the building.
This project required a team of 20 operatives delivering the project over a 7 month period for a Tier 1 construction contractor.
